Male Hair LossUnderstanding Male Hair Loss and What You Can Do about It Male pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia), or male hair loss, is a normal thing for many men to go through. When hair loss begins at a young age though, it can be discouraging and cause a loss in self esteem, as well as a loss of hair. Many men begin losing hair between the ages of twenty and forty five. This is too young to look old. Hair loss is often the result of being passed down through the family. It is caused by a hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) being over produced in your system. Having too much DHT causes hair to fall out. The only way to stop male hair loss, is to use a DHT blocker. When you block production of DHT, you stop the hair loss. Male hair loss usually begins with thinning at the crown, eventually resulting in a bald spot, or at the temples, creating a receding hair line. At first it might not seem serious enough to do anything about it, biut as more hair continues to fall out, many men choose to look into remedies for hair loss. Some of the options for ending male hair loss are: Scalp massaging oils: These are made of essential oils such a lavender oil, thyme, and other oils thought to cleanse dead hair follicles away, and nourish the remaining hair follicles. Hair loss shampoo: this is medicated shampoo, or shampoo enriched with vitamins and minerals thought to help end hair loss and encourage new growth. Some people who use this may experience scalp irritation. Vitamins for hair growth: These vitamins are mixed in a combination with herbs, minerals and other nutrients. They work together to block DHT and promote hair growth by increasing circulation and blood flow to the scalp. They also have the nutrients needed to grow new hair. There are no known side effects with this option. Hair loss pills: There are medications that can be taken for male hair loss, but they do have possible side effects. One medication is available over the counter, and the other is prescription only. Hair transplant: this option is expensive and is not always a life long change. For the expense and pain of it, considering whether it is worth the investment is important before deciding to take this option. Whatever option you are interested in, it is important to do the proper research to have the information needed to make a confident choice. Male hair loss may be a part of life, but it's a part you may be able to have some control over.
